Jacksonville’s annual artUNLEASHED event was held yesterday at the grand River Club on the 35th floor of the Wells Fargo Center. Seven works of art were donated by the Anonymous Society of Artists to support First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) and its mission to end the killing of dogs and cats in our community.

Free food, free drinks and the opportunity to speak with artists and art lovers alike made for a very enjoyable evening. Though we did not win “Best in Show” this year, each of us were proud to have received bids on our pieces during the silent auction portion of the show.

Coming up… ArtUNLEASHED

After a long day selling and showing our art at Ancient City Pride last weekend we took a break from our usual Sunday outdoor drawing session to pack up, clean up and rest.

This Thursday evening we’ll be attending the ArtUNLEASHED show in Jacksonville in hopes of winning the great prize while chewing our way through the free treats and meeting new friends.

Promo Photo 2Date: Friday, May 4, 2012
Time: 6:00PM
Location: Jackson’s Garage Bar, 223 A West King Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084

With our great appreciation, Jackson’s Garage Bar will be displaying our group’s artwork for a second First Friday Artwalk this evening. We’ll be holding our monthly meeting there at 6pm and then spend some time drawing one another in a quick portrait jam. Bring a pencil and add your fresh face into the mix!
After our portrait jam we’ll take to the streets for the Artwalk. While you’re out there, don’t miss the opening of our friend Josh Redman’s show, “Confined and Redefined” at 233 West King Gallery, just a kneaded eraser’s throw from Jackson’s Garage. See http://233westking.com/upcoming-shows/ for details about Josh’s show.

Next Drawing Location Will Be River’s Edge Marina

River's Edge MarinaEvent: Sunday Morning Drawing / Painting Session
Dates: Sunday, April 29th and May 6th
Time: 9:00AM
Location: River’s Edge Marina / Hurricane Patty’s Restaurant
Address: 65 Lewis Boulevard, St. Augustine, FL 32084

Returning to a maritime theme, we’ll work for two Sundays at River’s Edge Marina and Hurricane Patty’s Restaurant located at 65 Lewis Boulevard. The marina’s docks extend southward, so we should be properly shielded from the rising sun. The Dockmaster has asked that we use dropcloths to protect the area and ask boat owners for permission to render their vessels if they are present. If you’d like to join us, we’ll meet near the boat ramp beside Hurricane Patty’s at 9am. View a map showing the marina’s location.
